Classes and Consultations
Lactation consultations are available at our store location and
preformed by an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
The consult will take approximately 1 1/2
hours with length depending on the nature of the breastfeeding
issue. You may call to schedule the consult and to discuss fees for
the consults. Also check with your health insurance provider to find
out if they will reimburse you any portion of the fee for this
consult. Consultations assist mothers who are experiencing
breastfeeding problems as well as the mother who wishes to schedule
a consult even if there aren't experiencing any difficulties with
nursing.

CPR
Courses |
|
Community Classes - Family & Friends: These are
classes for community members who wish to learn Basic CPR
skills for their family and friends. This class does not
earn a certification card and is not appropriate for
anyone who requires CPR as a work requirement. Students
will receive a book for their use but not a certification
card.

Community Classes - Heart Saver CPR : These classes
are for community members who wish to learn CPR skills and
who require a certification card for employment. Examples
of workers who need this course would include but are not
limited to daycare employees, lifeguards, or camp
counselors. Students will receive a book to study prior to
the course and at successful completion of the course a
certification card will be issued which is valid for two
years.

Infant
Massages |
|
All Classes will taught by Anne Cassidy Szal - who
has 25 years experience in maternal / child health, as a
registered nurse certified nurse midwife, and
breastfeeding counselor. She is a Certified Infant Massage
Instructor who currently works at Bryn Mawr Hospital as a
maternity nurse and infant massage instructor.
Infant massage benefits for baby:
Increases sense of love and acceptance, as baby learns to trust their
parents. Improves awareness - through touch, babies learn where their
body parts are in relation to one another. Stimulates and strengthens
circulatory and immune systems, Strengthens respiratory, digestive, and
intestinal systems. Develops and improves muscle tone and sleeping
patterns. Reduces discomfort from colic, gas, constipation, teething,
and sinus congestion.
Infant massage benefits for parents:
Improves relaxation, reduces stress.
Promotes parenting skills and quality bonding time. Increases
communication skills between baby and parent. Makes a calmer, happier
baby, which makes for a calmer happier family |
